As we walk through life we will face all types of situations. Many will take courage to move you forward as you walk through them. Courage means to have strength in the face of pain or grief.
Marilyn Hickey once told me, “If you are a leader you will be criticized. " As you lead there will be times that you will face other's criticism. For me, over the years, I have learned that I have control over how much of that criticism I let in. I always learn something from those who criticize but at the same time, I make sure I hold my ground believing in myself. It takes courage to face opposition but having confidence in yourself will carry you further than you could ever dream. Having your foundation be as solid as a rock is the key to success.
In the bible, God commissioned Joshua, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous” (Joshua 1:9). As he went into the land to take possession of it, he had to have courage as he led his teams. They had to believe in themselves. God knew there would be trials coming against them and he wanted them to be strong and courageous as they faced challenges.
I think you have to hold strong and have courage to not give up. Keep your eye on the prize and keep on keeping on. My family had all odds against us growing up. My dad would do well in his job and then something would happen and we would lose everything and this happened multiple times. Yes--we did feel like giving in, but we did not. We held tight to God and his promises. We knew we had to be strong and courageous. Even when we looked ahead we only saw debt and discouragement.
By faith we walked. I think when you can’t see anything turning, you have to walk in faith knowing that God has a plan and purpose for you. To hold on tight, never wavering, and have courage to stick it out and believe God will see you through. Always having confidence in yourself when others might not and hold strong to your family and legacy as you move forward in life.
